Reports circulating on Chinese social media claim that a young woman named Cheng Xuedan stabbed notorious cat abuser Jack Latiao, leaving him in the ICU, and later died by suicide.
According to the posts, she had spent years reporting him and wanted to stop him from abusing more cats after repeated efforts to hold him accountable failed. She was reportedly seeking justice for Cowcat and his other victims, but the continued abuse and lack of legal consequences had taken a severe toll on her mental health.
No official police statement has confirmed what happened (as expected), so treat these reports as unverified.

The Cow Cat Incident inspired both the creation of Feline Guardians and China's most notorious cat torture network whose members continue to torture, murder, and brutalize cats and kittens on an industrial scale in his name.

“ In the video, the council member claimed it was due to personal grievances. However, neither the video nor the council guy (not an official anyway) ever stated the party she had personal grievances with. It could refer to either one, or both of them. This was an interesting bit of omission.
It could have been a case of convenience. Someone the woman had grievances just happened to be near Xu Zhihui and his wife. She wanted to die, so she decided to take three people with her. Otherwise, this doesn't make sense. The stabber clearly snuck into the apartment complex with a machete, with the intention to stab someone. The chance of this being random is minute. She should have stabbed them harder, though.”
